November Edition 2016  - by Jim Mazzotta

NEW SHIRTS, NO SHOES, NO PROBLEM!

Long time visitors to Jungle Drums will know that I have been creating tee shirt designs since the early 1980s. I've been laboring all summer long on a new collection of illustrations to be unveiled on cooling performance wear garments this Fall.

You may be more familiar with this material that the Under Armor brand has made popular. An ultra tight knit fabric that wicks away perspiration from the skin, these shirts are stain and odor resistant.

These 4 oz. polyester long sleeve cooling tees will be great for fisherman, outdoor activities or just plain hangin' out island style. Be on the lookout on our website in late Fall 2016 to see these beauties. In the meantime, here are a few designs for your viewing pleasure.

HAVE A SEAT

by Kathleen & Jim Mazzotta

Kathleen and I created a handsome group of hand sculpted Critter Chairs for release last winter. Turns out they were quite in demand and they all left the building! We didn't want to leave our collectors standing out in the cold (Although it's mostly balmy in our parts of the island) for want of our Chairs. So new critters are now available resting comfortably while they await adoption. Frames hold a standard 4 x 6 photo or you can sit your cell phone in the chair and stare at that!  "OUR LITTLE SECRET"

A Mermaid themed  Distressed Table

A large scale project by Jim begins on a distressed table top. A thick textured coating is first applied to the top to provide a uneven painting surface followed by smearing on thick dark colors to approximate the briny deep.

A master sketch is lightly transferred to the table and color is slowly added. The metallic border is added first then followed with a sponged on repeat pattern. Acrylic paints are used along with metallics to impart a shimmery effect to various areas of the artwork.

Working carefully from left to right, the image takes shape. The final painting is protected with an epoxy coating giving the artwork a glossy, wet look.

Table measures 47" long x 15" deep x 33" tall.
